Bar Invar 36H

Invar — the alloy consisting of nickel of 36% and iron of 64%. It is designated 36H. An alloy the Invar is alloyed by silicon, manganese, vanadium, aluminum, molybdenum. The kind of an alloy is made by vacuum and induction smelting. For increase of durability the invar is subjected to cold plastic deformation with the subsequent low-temperature heat treatment.

Characteristics of an alloy Invar:

• temperature of melting is 1430 °C,

• strength about 490 Mnm2 (49 kgfs/mm2),

• coefficient of thermal expansion ~ 1,2·10−6/°C in the range of temperatures from −20 to 100 °C

• An alloy possesses small temperature coefficient of linear expansion and practically does not change the linear sizes in the range of temperatures from −100 to +100 °C
